The paper examines the hypothesis that the mechanism responsible for X-ray flares on the sun is also responsible for X-ray flares on UV Ceti type stars. It is shown that X-ray data on UV Ceti stars are described by a law which is also valid for solar flares. An analysis of plasma temperature and concentration in stellar flares, based on the assumption that the flare energy source is the dissipation of the poloidal magnetic field, are confirmed by real values of these parameters.
