High-resolution radio observations show that T Tau is a multiple star consisting of at least two interacting pre-main-sequence objects. Both stars have powerful ionized stellar winds. T Tau (S), the invisible infrared companion, is the dominant object insofar as the system's interaction with its immediate environment is concerned. It probably drives the associated molecular flow and excites the nearby Herbig-Haro objects.
