The Ultraviolet/Optical Telescope (UVOT) and X-Ray Telescopes (XRT) on board the Swift satellite have been used to observe more than 200 nearby (z<0.01) 'normal' galaxies of all Hubble types. The UVOT provides high resolution imaging (<2; arcsec) of the entire galactic disks in three optical and three ultraviolet (UV) filters that are being used to study star formation rate activities, identify globular clusters and supernova remnants in the galaxies, identify and use quasars/AGN shining through the galactic disks as absorption probes, derive stellar populations and age maps of the galaxies, and serve as template images for past and future novae searches. The XRT X-ray data gave detections of hundreds of X-ray sources which are used to perform a sensitive variability study of X-ray sources in combination with previous X-ray observations, and to study the properties of compact objects (such as X-ray binaries, SNRs, etc) and hot gas in and around the bulges and galactic disks. The survey also led to the detection of a large number of previously unknown ULXs with XRT, and UVOT is being used to study the opt/UV environments. A survey of the nearby galaxy M33, consisting of 13 individual pointings, gave the best UV image of any galaxy obtained to date in terms of spatial resolution and coverage of the entire galactic disk.
