The Solar Ultraviolet Network (SUN), which is a four 20 cm diameter telescope interferometer of 2 m baseline, is presented. SUN is the major instrument of the SIMURIS (Stellar Interferometric Mission for Ultrahigh Resolution Imaging and Spectroscopy) mission now under study by ESA for a possible accommodation on the Space Station Freedom. SUN concepts and optical, mechanical and thermal design are reviewed with emphasis on the unique particularities of this cophased interferometer dedicated to imaging of complex and extended objects.
