Observations of the intrinsic emission of the moon at short centimeter wavelengths with high resolution and sensitivity show that the lunar brightness temperature distribution is extremely inhomogeneous. The dimensions of these inhomogeneities range from 0.5 arcmin to 0.4 lunar radii. The brightness temperature variations are analyzed as a function of lunar phase. It is found that differences in the temperature regime in the radio range can be attributed to differences in chemical composition as well as to geometrical factors.
