NAROM (Norwegian Centre for Space Related Education) was formed in 2000 to organize space related educational activities, to promote recruitment, to promote appreciation for the benefits of space activities, and to stimulate interest for science in general. NAROM and Andøya Rocket Range (ARR) have since 1997 developed and launched more than 20 student rockets. Hundreds of students have had theoretical introductory and hands-on work preparing for the launch of a student rocket at ARR. Two modifications of the student rocket are made the summer 2005, including change of rocket engine and change to S-band telemetry. The main goal of the Student Rocket Program is to give the students a comprehensive inroduction to an ordinary scientific rocket launch from ARR.
