The young, rapidly rotating star, AB Doradus was observed in the Far Ultraviolet spectral region with the FUSE satellite in December 2003, and contemporaneously in the optical with MIKE at the Magellan II telescope, and with UCLES at the Anglo-Australian telescope for Zeeman-Doppler imaging. Models are constructed of the coronal magnetic field for comparison with changes in the the far ultraviolet fluxes and line profiles with rotational phase. The magnetic structures can be divided into closed and open field regions in the atmosphere and these appear to coincide with increased and decreased O VI 1032 Angstrom line fluxes respectively, as well as changes in line widths suggestive of outflowing material when open field lines are visible. These results document the segmented structure and dynamics of hot plasma in a young stellar corona. Research supported by NASA and the Smithsonian Institution.
