An analytic solution of the ionospheric-plasma equations is used to obtain the vertical distribution of charged-particle density and temperature above the magnetic equator at heights of 100-2000 km at midday hours for quiet geomagnetic conditions and various levels of solar activity. It is shown that the calculated vertical electron-temperature profiles have a maximum at 250 km, while the isothermal region (T sub e = T sub n) is situated in the 380-500 km region at low solar activity and in the 380-650 km region at high solar activity. The nonisothermicity of the medium does not produce changes in hmF2 and NmF2 but produces an increase in O(+) concentration above the isothermal region and a decrease in H(+) concentration in a wide range of heights.
