The Stellar Archive and Retrieval System (StARS) is a data archive and search facility on nearby (mainly F,G and K) stars that was setup following a successful proposal to NASA's ROSS 2003 Terrestrial Planet Finder Foundation Science (FS) AO call. Specifically, StARS was a response to the FS call's research objective of the "development of a long-term archive of the key observational data and derived parameters in a manner readily usable by the larger community of interested researchers." The main highlights are: (i) StARS allows users to specify parameter constraints on over 40 observed and derived stellar properties to filter target lists. (ii) Based on empirical and theoretical relations, StARS also provides tools to further calculate derived quantities (e.g. effective temperature) from empirical data (e.g. V-I color). (iii) StARS maintains strict traceability of all data to the original publication or catalog for each stored datum or relationship used in the StARS toolset. And, (iv)StARS has a dedicated catalog astronomer and an independent science panel of experts who validate all data and services in the archive. The StARS development team will be running demos at both the MSC and the IPAC booths.
