Solar variability controls our space environment and is also believed to play a role in shaping the global climate. The variability of the Sun can be traced back to the presence and modulation of magnetic fields -- which has its origin in a dynamo mechanism working in the interior. The "Stars as Suns" project aims to determine the long-term variability of Sun, through a combination of stellar magnetic activity observations of Sun-like stars and theoretical dynamo modeling. Here we present recent results from solar and stellar dynamo studies that addresses the goals of this project. This research is funded by a NASA Living With a Star grant NNG05GE47G to Montana State University.
