We will present the initial findings of an investigation into the spectra of X-ray binary systems associated with globular clusters (GC) in the nearby elliptical galaxy NGC4278. The system was observed with Chandra ACIS-S over 6 separate pointings for a total of 458 ks allowing us to probe the low mass binary (LMXB) population down to 1037 erg/s.
From optical observations, performed with WFPC2 on board the Hubble Space Telescope, 266 GC's have been identified, 43 of which have been determined to be GC-LMXB coincident.
Here we present the average X-ray spectral properties of these sources where we have investigated this population by dividing the sources into X-ray luminosity bins as well as separating the sources into GC colours.
