The SPI spectrometer on Integral will offer the high spectral resolution possible with germanium detectors, together with the capability of imaging both point and extended sources. To assess the performance of the instrument both a GEANT Monte Carlo model and ray-tracing techniques are being used to produce simulated data streams. These are being analysed with independent software systems representative of those which may be used with flight data. In this way the advantages and feasibility of various approaches to the reconstruction and deconvolution problem can be investigated. Example results obtained using a number of techniques, including linear and maximum entropy methods as well as some newly developed techniques, are presented.
