We present an overview and status report on a continuing large-scale project to examine spectra of solar-type stars in the solar neighborhood out to 60pc. Data for approximately 5,500 stars have been collected and analysis has begun to determine physical parameters. We will use spectrum synthesis to determine abundance ratios of various elements to examine abundance trends in the neighborhood and look for anomalous stars. Results of this project will be useful in answering questions about chemical homogeneity in the solar neighborhood and aid in identifying planet-harbouring stars for future surveys and space observation missions. This work has been supported by NSF grants AST 00-86576 and 02-39518.
