The solar eclipse of Oct. 23, 1976, belongs to saros no. 133 and is the fifth total eclipse of this saros. The next eclipse of this saros will be visible on November 3, 1994, in South America. The reported observations were made on October 23 on Zanzibar. The total phase of the eclipse lasted from 3.36 to 3.38 UT. Attention is given to the program of observations, the evaluation of the photographs, solar activity during the time of the eclipse, the structure of the corona, the corona parameters, and a comparison of the reported data with earlier observations.
