The solar eclipse of February 1980 is described, as seen from Yellapur, India. Emphasis is placed on the uniqueness of this eclipse. Information about the sunspot number and cloud cover is given for that day. A good investigation of the change in temperature during the eclipse was possible because of the absence of clouds. The coronal structure was studied with five cameras, covering a focal distance from 50 to 190 cm. The difference in ellipticity of the corona in the Northern and Southern Hemispheres is discussed, along with the influence of solar activity and a variety of rays on the structure of the corona.
