A technique for obtaining the absolute solar brightness temperature in the millimeter region is proposed. Using this technique, the ratio of the solar brightness temperature to that of the lunar brightness temperature at a particular frequency is measured. These ratios can then be converted to an absolute solar brightness temperature by choosing an appropriate lunar brightness temperature spectrum. The frequencies used are 33.9, 36.0, 37.75, 90.0 and 93.0 GHz. Two different radiometers were used, one operating at approximately 36 GHz and the other operating near 93 GHz. They were both superheterodyne, Dicke switched receivers.
