Evidence from interferometric observations of the 'point' radio source at the galactic center is consistent with the possibility that the core of the source has an intrinsic angular size much smaller than 0.001 arcsec (or 10 AU). As a test of this idea, experiments are proposed in which the scintillation of the core radio flux would be observed. The size of the core might then be estimated and a decision made among various hypotheses as to its nature - for example, whether the core is a pulsar or a massive black hole.
