A method is presented for the experimental simulation of the motion of a large and fast meteor body under conditions in which radiation plays a predominant role in the flow process. In the present method, the model body is placed in a hypersonic jet of gas with a high atomic weight. A method for studying the luminescence of these meteors which is based on the injection of a high-speed plasma jet into a real atmosphere is proposed.
