Scientific paper

The short-term response of thunderstorm activity to Forbush decrease over 185 meteorological stations in China from 1971 - 1980 is studied. The fact that the response with the significance levels from 10-2 - 10-6 are quite different for different regions means that the thunderstorm activity after Forbush decrease obviously increases in some regions and decreases in others and the space distribution of thunderstorm activity response to Forbush decrease is the same as that to solar flares but with opposite behaviour. This fact gives a new challenge especially to the study of the correlation mechanisms between solar activity and short-term weather pattern.
