The dependence of the shape and width of the pulsar radiation pattern on the pulsar period is investigated on the basis of pulse profiles in the limited interval of wavelengths of about 260 pulsars. The relative pulse duration is compared with the ratio of numbers of pulsars to single and multicomponent pulses. It is shown that the simple circular-hollow-cone model does not agree with observational data. Preliminary estimates indicate that young pulsars (with short periods) have an elongated pattern which at long periods becomes circular. In the case of an elliptical pattern, the exact dependence of the observable width of the radiation beam on the basic angles is obtained.
