In the paper "The Shape and Color of the Galactic Disk" by H. T. Freudenreich (ApJ, 468, 663 [1996]), errors occurred regarding the dust layer model. First, the values of the J-band extinction AJ appearing in Tables 2 and 3 were erroneously multiplied by a factor of 2. Second, as the result of a software bug, the extinction in the different bands was related by A lambda = AJ[ lambda /1.25]1.33, where lambda is in microns, and not the law of G. H. Rieke & M. J. Lebofsky (AJ, 288, 618 [1985]), for which the power-law index is 1.76 in this wavelength range. When this is corrected, for R0 = 8.5 kpc, the scale length of the dust layer hdr ~ 3.1 kpc; the scale height hdz ~ 0.20 kpc; the local J-band extinction AJ ~ 0.13 mag kpc-1; and the central dust emissivities kdi ~ 4.6 , 1.2, 2.2, and 3.2 MJy-1 sr-1kpc, in bands JD through MD, respectively. The parameters describing the stellar disk did not change significantly.
