Long period magnetic field pulsations of Ps-6 type were investigated using balloon and GEOS-2 data and networks of ground-based observations in Scandinavia and Kola Peninsula. The variations are found to be associated with north-south oriented auroral arcs moving westward in the evening sector. The passage of the front is accompanied by variations of the energetic electron and proton distributions and by precipitation of electrons. The westward velocity of 1 deg/min is of the order of the drift velocity of energetic protons.
