Sixty-eight variable stars having periods less than a day and amplitudes of several tenths of a magnitude are identified in a 1 by 1.3 degree field of the Large Magellanic Cloud. The RR Lyrae-type stars are found to consist of 60 Bailey class ab stars and eight of Bailey class c. The mean periods of the two classes, as well as the mean visual magnitude of the stars, are given. The survey data for the Large Magellanic Cloud is compared to similar data obtained for a group of 81 RR Lyrae stars isolated in the Small Magellanic Cloud.
