H-alpha emission line and radio continuum intensities of the Rosette nebula have been compared and the distribution of interstellar dust in front of the H II region is obtained. From the distribution of dust grains and of CO molecules, a detailed model of the Rosette nebulae molecular cloud complex can be established in three dimensions, including a reasonable velocity field The H II region is located within but near the front side of the complex. Molecular clouds and the nebula are rotating around the centre of the complex, while the H II region is expanding with a velocity decreasing towards the outer regions. The hole penetrating the nebular shell points to the near border of the molecular cloud complex. The total mass within a spere of 110 pc diameter which is assumed for the complex, reaches 330,000 solar masses. The mass of dust extrapolated from the observed to the whole region of the complex is estimated at 11000 solar masses. Thus the mass ratio of gas to dust could be smaller than (in general) interstellar space.
