The observability of the cyclotron resonance in the X-ray spectra of
accreting neutron stars is discussed. Problems arising in the context of
gamma-ray burst spectra are addressed. Finally, radiative transfer in
homogeneous plasmas under superstrong magnetic field conditions is
discussed.
