Photometric, television, photographic, and visual observations of occultations and eclipses were made of the Galilean satellites of Jupiter in 1979-80 during a period when the Jovian declinations of the earth and sun were zero. Photoelectric photometers recorded wavelengths of the red methane absorption bands at 0.62, 0.73, and 0.89 microns. Light curves are provided of eclipse and occultation luminance and analytical models are developed for the progression of photometric values of the eclipse conditions. Further observations of the same phenomena under more favorable conditions are noted to be available in 1985, leading to a reduction of systematic errors with new data.
