The action of IAU resolutions for the development of astronomy are
described and the three resolutions, which were passed at the 24th IAU
General Assembly, are briefly introduced. The precedent astrometric
research fields during the period of 2000 - 2003 are evaluated and the
prior research fields of fundamental astrometry in China are suggested.
