The VLA has been used to map the 1.49 GHz continuum emission from 161 spiral galaxies with previously measured H-0.5 magnitudes and maximum rotation velocities from the surveys of Aaronson et al. The radio continuum surface brightness CSB (ratio of flux density to optical size) is little correlated with either Hubble type or rotation velocity. Rotation velocity and Hubble type are strongly correlated for this sample. However, CSB is strongly correlated with the hybrid H magnitude surface brightness for a given Hubble type, with the zero point of that relationship depending on either Hubble type or rotation velocity. This correlation of radio continuum and near-infrared surface brightnesses for a given Hubble type reveals a connection between radio continuum emission and the overall stellar populations of normal spiral galaxies.
