Vega Plazmag-1 measurements revealed the existence of a cometopause about 160,00 km from the nucleus of Comet Halley. This cometopause divides the external region (controlled by solar-wind protons) from the internal region of the cometary plasma, where heavy cometary ions predominate. This paper presents additional experimental data, and examines the physical characteristics of the cometary-plasma region.
