The pattern of star formation during the recent past in the galaxies NGC 6822 and IC 1613 is derived from color-magnitude diagrams of their stellar associations and from the brightest stars of star clusters. Ages so determined, though rather uncertain, allow a preliminary exploration of their star formation history back approximately 50 million years for the associations and 200 million years for the clusters. The pattern moves about irregularly in the galaxies in this time interval, and there is evidence for sporadic bursts of enhanced star formation. Other features of the stellar associations, including luminosity functions, are described as are the implied formation rates for star clusters, OB associations, and star-formation bursts.
