Photographic and calculated dimension of Halley's Comet as it approached its geocentric minimum in 1910 are reviewed. The movement of the comet provided 83 min of observations of its passage directly between the earth and sun. Exacting measurements were made of the lengths of the tail with an eye to discerning any effects which could be attributed to terrestrial gravity. The observed size of the nucleus was employed to calculate the radiation pressure. The tail passed within 400,000 km of the earth and raised questions regarding the possible existence of a field of electrostatic repulsion around the earth. No tail was seen during the direct-line passage. Numerous photographs were taken of the nebulosities of the head and tail after the perihelion.
