The neutron yield of the C-13(alpha, neutron) O-16 reaction has been measured in the energy range 0.60-1.15 MeV (in the laboratory system). From the results of this investigation an expression for the lifetime of C-13 nuclei in burning by the (alpha, neutron) process has been derived. The new measurements indicate a somewhat more rapid burning rate of carbon at temperatures above about 7 x 10 to the 8th K than was previously deduced.
