Based on room temperature experiments and theoretical considerations, it
has been determined that the reaction Si(+) + H2O yields SiOH(+) + H is
rapid at temperatures down to 10 K. The low abundance of SiO in cool
interstellar clouds such as TMC-1 is not a consequence of the slowness
of this reaction.
