The radio continuum properties of a carefully selected sample of spiral galaxies in multiple systems are studied and compared with the radio continuum properties of a sample of isolated galaxies. The galaxies were observed with the Westerbork Synthesis Radio Telescope at a frequency of 1415 MHz. The sample of double galaxies and the isolated galaxy sample have cumulative frequency distributions of the total radio power which have the same shape. The radio power of the central sources in double galaxies is on average a factor 4 higher than the radio power of the central sources in isolated galaxies. After correcting for absolute magnitude effects this is reduced to a factor 2.5. No significant difference was found in the properties of the disk components. After correction for the absolute magnitude effect the difference in radio power of the disk component is at most a factor 1.5
