The authors have compared the radio continuum emission of about 80 bright galaxies containing LINER (low-ionization) nuclei with that of a comparable number of bright spirals having H II-region like nuclei. It is found that the former class of objects (the galaxies with LINER nuclei) tends to display, on average, weaker total radio emission (per unit light) than the latter.
