Radiative Transfer: Scattering

Scientific paper

Employing strong fluctuation theory and the radiative transfer equation for strongly-fluctuating, continuous random media, the associated phase matrix and scattering coefficient are obtained. Comparisons are discussed with the conventional theory for weakly-fluctuating media. Using Gaussian quadrature, the vector thermal radiative transfer equation for a layer of a random medium is obtained and shown to agree well with experimental data.
