The chemical composition of the mineral section of the Tunguska cosmic body (from the 1908 disaster) is studied using samples from a mass deposit cover in the central region of the fall area. It is found that the chemical composition is similar to that of comets, having a predominance of low-melting and volatile elements. The substance of this assumed comet, and perhaps of other comets, is genetically tied to the substance of carbonaceous chondrites and of regular meteor streams, having a similar parental origin, and being a late product of successive differentiation in the protoplanetary cloud. Carbonaceous chondrites are not thought to be the products of the evolutionary degradation of comets.
