The paper studies the influence of the overlapping of OH far infrared lines due to Doppler effect on the OH radio line emission. The case of a maser cloud pumped by an external cloud moving with a relative radial velocity of a few km/s is considered. Inversion ratios can be as high as 60 percent for the main lines in the unsaturated maser case. The effects of saturation are considered for a spherical maser cloud, using the results of Goldreich and Keeley (1972). The predicted brightness temperatures are then of order 10 to the 10th to 10 to the 12th K, in agreement with observed values.
