The design concept for a zenith telescope for recording the moment of transit of a star observed from the lunar surface is proposed. The star transit times are recorded with the aid of a photoelectric micrometer, and an expression for determining this moment taking into account correction for stars of different magnitudes is given. A suitable micrometer reticle is proposed, having three meridional and two oblique slits. The basic relation expressing the moment of star culmination as a function of the individual star transits across the slits is given.
