The probable frequency of craters for different regions of the Soviet Union is computed using data on the frequency of meteoritic structures in Canada. The main diagnostic features of explosion-type meteorite craters are described along with temperature and pressure limits at which shock metamorphism will occur. It is estimated that there are 41 known impact craters in the territory of the USSR, with diameters ranging from 0.2 to 100 km.
