Ground-based observations of ducted magnetospheric echoes between 1985
and 1988 are used together with topside sounder observations to estimate
their likely rate of occurrence in future years. The variation in the
probability of observing the echoes from the ground with location, wave
frequency, and time, for the year 1992-1996, is given.
