A seminumerical theory of the main lunar motion problem is compared with a semianalytical one. In the seminumerical (Chapront-Touze, 1974, 1979), an iterative method is associated with an incremental one; the semianalytical is based on Lie transforms. The first theory seems to be more precise for the nominal solution and the second is more precise as far as orbital parameter derivatives are concerned. Differences are presented for longitude, latitude and distance; the quadratic mean values of the differences are 200 cm in longitude, 45 cm in latitude and 120 cm in distance.
