Stars can be classified into four categories according to their initial mass as follows: (1) low mass stars with 0.07 Msun < M < 2.2 Msun; (2) intermediate mass stars with M < 8 to 9 Msun; (3) quasi-massive stars with M < 13 Msun; and (4) massive stars. Some important questions about the post main sequence evolution of stars with different mass are reviewed, attention being paid especially to the progress in the last decade.
