A hypothesis relating to the strong flattening of flare-generated interplanetary streams is developed. In addition, the method of determining the earth's position relative to such streams is refined. The method is used in interpreting several paradoxical features of solar-terrestrial connections that are difficult to explain from the traditional point of view.
