The linear polarization of the enigmatic object Sigma Ori E was measured on 33 nights in January-March 1977. Variation synchronous with the 1.19-day light period was found in the B filter, with peak-to-peak amplitude of about 0.10%. Lower-accuracy data in the U filter show a different polarization structure. The polarization curves suggest a strongly inclined system with an apparent inclination of approximately 76 deg and are compatible, for example, with a binary containing a highly nonspherical component such as a disk.
