One way to explore the limits of the Standard Model and the physics beyond is based on the use of an e+e- linear collider of a centre-of-mass energy of 500 GeV and above. In recent years the physics potential of such a collider has been explored and a first design for a high performance detector has been developed. Taking a few reference reactions as examples it will be shown that an e+e- linear collider is an excellent and powerful tool to explore the physics beyond the Standard Model.
