The statistical analysis of the power spectrum is used to study the distribution of emission line redshifts for quasars, to establish the periodicity in the redshift distribution. A model is developed to explain the possible origin of the periodicity in the standard cosmology, which states that the periodicity may be remains of density wave perturbations in the early universe. The deceleration parameter may be determined by the remarkableness of the periodicity, and it is found to be larger than 0.5. This result supports the common conclusion on the closure of the universe, which has been obtained from the massive neutrinos and the redshift-magnitude relations of various quasar subsets.
