The luminosities of Beta Cephei stars as obtained by means of the calibration of the Geneva Photometric System lead to a better defined period-luminosity relation than do the luminosities obtained from the calibration of the Beta-index. This is mainly because the spectral domain covered by the filters of the Geneva System is nearer to the ultraviolet than to the H-beta line and because the present luminosity calibration is not affected by emission in the H-alpha or H-beta lines and only marginally by emissions in the H-gamma line. However, some stars do not obey the period-luminosity relation. The period of HR 3088 is shorter and the periods of Alpha Lupi and Tau(1) Lupi are longer than the periods predicted by the period-luminosity relation.
