The Burst Alert Telescope (BAT) on board Swift has now performed a complete survey of the hard X-ray sky, producing, with its high sensitivity, large field of view and good angular resolution, the deepest hard X-ray survey to date. At energies greater than 15 keV, we can obtain a clear view of even the most obscured corners of the universe and explore the most energetic non-thermal as trophysical processes, such as the ones occurring in flaring and/or highly-absorbed Active Galactic Nuclei (AGN), accreting binaries or isolated magnetars. We are exploiting this survey through a systematic search for new hard X-ray sources. We have created a suite of highly efficient software specifically developed for the BAT survey data analysis. We present the performance of this software on 2.5 years of BAT-survey data, and the first results of a dedicated search for a complete sample of SDSS LINERS.
