Imagery of the strongly barred spiral galaxy NGC 4303 has been performed in the nebular lines H-alpha, H-beta, forbidden O 5007 A, and forbidden N II 6584 and in the visual and red continuum. Several parameters such as reddening, H-beta emission equivalent widths, diagnostic line ratios, and H-alpha fluxes were measured for 79 H II regions ranging from 0.4 and 2.8 R(eff) in galactocentric distances. The global O/H abundance gradient was found to have a slope of Delta log(O/H)/Delta R = -0.073 +/- 0.006 dex/kpc. This is very similar to the gradients observed in other well-sampled normal galaxies. It appears that the abundance gradient in barred galaxies may not be flatter than in normal spirals, at least in the disk beyond the range of the bar.
